Software Engineer/ Developer – Job & Person Spec

We are looking for a high-calibre primarily back-end Developer (Full-stack is a benefit) to join our team based in the Hyper Luminal Dundee Studio. You will be building applications and solving problems for Hyper Luminal and it’s Business Partners alongside the Luminaries who support them.

You’ll have the opportunity to work with the latest technologies, ensuring the applications delivered are high performing, responsive and maintainable. You’ll have the capability to influence the choice and extent of technologies used, as we develop our applications.

You’ll be responsible for delivering expertly designed components, built, debugged, tested and verified, ready for integration into various contexts across the business.

There are many technical and team skills that this role requires:

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

  • Experience delivering web applications using JavaScript frameworks such as AngularJS/Angular, React, Vue.js
  • Proven experience with back-end programming languages such as Go, Java, Python, .Net
  • Proven experience using advanced JavaScript libraries and frameworks such as AngularJS.
  • Experience with relational databases, and with NoSQL solutions.
  • Experience developing APIs, and RESTful web services.
  • Proficient understanding of Git, or other source code management systems.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD practices and tools.

Preferred Technical and Professional Experience

  • Experience with Golang (
  • Familiarity with Docker or similar container-based solutions.
  • Experience with PostgreSQL.
  • Experience with Linux.
  • Experience managing Kubernetes or other container orchestration.
  • Experience with AWS.  Especially EKS, DynamoDB, Lambda, and Fargate.
  • Experience with Architecting API’s.
  • Experience mentoring and coaching junior team members.
